Throughout this past year, many companies have been driving forward their D&I (diversity and inclusion) work. Creating more inclusive spaces has been a hot topic as it relates to culture change and employee engagement. This has posed the question of whether or not employees can bring their authentic self to work and if they should be expected to?

Some questions we will tackle during this conversation are: 

  • What if you don't want to bring your authentic self or your whole self to work? 
  • Have we ever considered that the notion of bringing yourself to work may be rooted in power and privilege?
  • What does it really mean to bring your full self to work, what are the benefits and the tradeoffs? 
  • Should companies be redefining the vision of authenticity at work?
